Two Biographies from Two Friends
Over the last few weeks, I’ve slowly (and silently) been pushing out new designs for the few pages on my website. This week I’m pushing a brand new about page that features two short bios from two close friends of mine, Tom and Simon. Tom’s, of course, describes me as a nobel citizen of Middle Earth, and Simon’s is a fictional narrative I didn’t ask for:

Of all the creatures I’ve come to know on this Earth, none have captured my heart so completely and turned my head so consistently as Luke Seeley. I count myself a lucky man to know him, and luckier still in my belief that I hold his respect and friendship. His is the twin gift of eyes and wit: as the delicate, well-kept cogs of his bright mind wheel and squeak, the vision of an artist guides his every machination toward a unified, inspiring end. He is Keeper and wielder of the Flame Imperishable through his artistic voice, and the grace of the Valar goes with him.

I remember Luke had eyes like spun glass in 2007. I saw him hoarding discarded gin and tonics at a socialist mosh, though he was less a socialist and more a kind of reverse bar star insomuch as he seemed to be no fun, but to me. I wanted to possess him. He was slow-moving and opulent, like a white elephant. And those eyes. “I know we come from different worlds,” I said to him. He moved his gaze up, up from the floor to meet my eyes, then over and beyond as if something was growing behind me. The lime from my mojito was in his fingers some how, being pushed past his lips. He stepped backwards and disappeared into the mosh.
